Betta is one of Australia's largest independently owned electronics and furniture retailers. We've been part of the Australian community since 1961, and today our network of over 150 locally-owned stores backs every purchase with the kind of service only a local can give. In 1959, three independent Brisbane electrical retailers joined forces to provide Australians with the best offers on appliances, furniture and technology. By 1961, they'd formed the Brisbane Electrical Television Traders Association, better known by its acronym, BETTA. Seven independent retailers signed on, the business was incorporated and a national network was born.
By 1964, more than 50 members had come on board and Betta Stores Ltd was formed. The Betta Electrical brand grew steadily through the 1990s before transitioning into BSR Group in 2006, when 48 member retailers banded together to shape the brand and its future.
Today, Betta is owned by BSR Group, Australia's largest independent electrical and furniture buying group, headquartered in Brisbane. Most Betta stores are independently owned and operated, supported by a small network of company-owned locations. Together, they combine the buying power of a national network with the personal service and community connection Betta has been known for over six decades — and that isn't changing any time soon.
