Our History

The Betta brand was established in 1961 by a group of forward-thinking electrical servicemen who recognised the growing market for electrical goods. Motivated by the trust and value their customers placed in their expertise, these six independent retailers came together to form the Brisbane Electrical Television Traders Association, later known as Betta.

What started as a small group soon expanded to 19 members, and Betta quickly grew its offerings to rival competitors, selling everything from electrical and gas appliances to lawnmowers and hot water systems. Today, Betta has evolved into a significant retail brand with a robust presence across Australia, boasting a network of over 200 stores nationwide.

Our Network

Betta operates through a network of independently owned and operated stores, allowing us to cater to local communities while leveraging the collective buying power of a larger group. This structure enables us to offer customers personalised service along with competitive pricing.

We operate under the franchisor BSR Group, whose primary focus is to assist franchisees in maximising their offerings to customers and providing the necessary support to compete in an increasingly competitive market. Additionally, as members of Narta (National Associated Retail Traders of Australia), we connect with top global brands, ensuring we deliver both competitive prices and personalized service.
