Fridges With Great Energy Rating

Fridges With Great Energy Rating

With today’s ever rising energy prices it pays off to check the Energy Rating Stars before you buy a new appliance. This is particularly important for whitegoods that are always on, such as fridges and freezers.

What is the Australian Energy Rating?

The energy rating labels are part of the E3 Program that consist of 2 main indicators for power usage and energy efficiency. Each label on an appliance shows an Energy Consumption Figure. For fridges, the assumed usage is 24 hours a day but for other appliances such as dishwashers, it’s 7 “normal” washes per week. The energy consumption figure is always shown in kWh (kilowatt-hours) for a whole year.

The second part of the label is the Star Rating. Briefly put, the more stars a label has, the more energy efficient it is and the more money it will save you over time compared to other models with fewer stars.

Energy Efficient Fridges

Most modern fridges offer strong energy efficiency ratings, with many models designed to help reduce everyday power consumption. As a general guide, fridges with higher star ratings are typically more energy efficient and can help lower running costs over time.

For busy family households, energy efficiency is especially important, as the fridge is often opened throughout the day. Features like inverter technology, improved cooling systems and well-designed insulation can help maintain consistent temperatures while using less energy. Fingerprint-resistant finishes and easy-access handles can also make everyday use more practical for families with children, while adjustable storage and flexible layouts help keep groceries organised and easy to access.
