Smeg, a manufacturer of domestic appliances, is known for its high quality and quirky, retro designs. Its headquarters are in Guastalla, Italy, where it was founded by Vittorio Bertazzoni in 1948. It is a privately-owned company still run by the Bertazzoni family.

Smeg begun as a company specializing in metalwork and enamelling. Before long, Smeg was producing innovative cooking appliances, including the first gas ranges to feature automatic ignition, a cooking programmer and safety valves. In the 1960's, Smeg pioneered the first dishwashers that were 60cm wide but could handle a 14 place setting capacity. Smeg has won a number of industry awards, including two Good Design awards for a fridge and an oven.

Today, Smeg is perhaps best known for its retro 1950s-style refrigerators in a variety of unusual and exciting patterns and colours. Smeg also manufactures dishwashers, washing machines, cooktops, ovens, microwaves, freestanding cookers, range hoods, in-built coffee machines, and wine cabinets, all with their own distinctive style.

In 2014, Smeg launched a range of small domestic appliances in Milan. The range includes a bench mixer, toaster, kettle and blender, in a range of colours.
